Christian Care Academy History
“And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Christian Care Academy is a faith based school founded in April 2007 under God’s direction by Andrea Hines. Andrea, a working mother, who found it hard to find affordable quality after school care for her special needs child, desired to help other families who struggled as well. After lots of prayer, she resigned from her job and started the necessary steps to start an in-home daycare and with the support of family began the pursuit. After becoming a licensed child care home, she began caring for 3 children on a part time basis in addition to her daughter and her niece until December 2007 when the first full time child was enrolled. These children were just the beginning of what was yet to come.
God guided even more families to Christian Care Academy. At this point, Andrea’s mother, Donna Garrison, came in full time to help care for the children bringing 20 years of experience in school systems specializing in special education for 15 of those years. Starting the next phase in June 2008, God opened the door for Christian Care Academy to welcome the first teacher, Stephanie Davis. Through her experience working with a private Christian academy, her patience, and gentleness she brought an innovative way of learning. In the same month, we were blessed with our first special needs child to care for. In all of these milestones, God showed how far we had come and where he wanted to bring us.
A few months later we added another member of our wonderful staff, Betty Harrison. Betty, with her willing spirit and 22 years of health care service strengthened the team. As Christian Care out grew the 1,000 square foot space allocated in the home we set out to find larger accommodations. In November 2008, God led us to the current space at 13202 North State Highway 5 in Anna, TX and we began preparing to be a licensed child care facility. In the midst of our transition, Christian Care experienced a great loss in December 2008 when our first special needs child passed away. As Christian Care and his parents supported each other in the loss we knew that it was imperative to continue the journey for the many other families affected by the challenges of a special needs child. In February 2009, Christian Care Academy became licensed to provide care for 36 children. Because of the success of the K-4 program, in August 2009 Christian Care added the Kindergarten program as a step toward being a private Christian school.
Christian Care continues to be a place to nurture and educate our little ones. We want to give them a solid foundation in the knowledge of God. At Christian Care we strive for excellence in every area. We are still watching and following as God’s plan unfolds and we look forward to great things in the future. God is truly our source and we desire to please Him in all we do.
